West Sussex Teaching School Hub

GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Eligibility

Some courses require additional teaching/school experience, but in general to apply for a place on a teacher training course, you must have:

  • A UK undergraduate degree (grade 2:2 Hons or above) or a recognised equivalent qualification* (for Secondary applicants, usually, at least 50% of your degree should be directly relevant to the subject you wish to teach.
  • However, applicants with a relevant degree in a non-related subject but significant work experience relevant to the subject they wish to teach may also be considered if they have an A-level grade C or above in the subject they want to train to teach.) You may be required to complete a Subject Enhancement Course (SKE) to ensure your subject knowledge is up to date before/during your training. Information on which subjects are eligible for an SKE HERE.
  • A grade 4/C GCSE in English and Mathematics, or equivalent *
  • A grade 4/C GCSE in a Science subject, or equivalent* if you intend to train to teach at Primary level.

* UK ENIC verification is required for all overseas degrees and GCSE equivalent qualifications. You can check your overseas qualifications at the UK ENIC website.

If you do not have an English or Maths GCSE at grade C/Level 4 or above (or Science for primary teacher training) or an ENIC-certified overseas equivalent, you can still apply for teacher training. However, we will require you to pass an equivalency test before we can confirm any offer that we make. We will accept equivalency tests from recognised providers taken within the last three years but will require you to provide an original certificate. You can also read about eligibility on the DfE Get into Teaching website. If you are unsure about eligibility, please contact us to arrange a phone conversation about your situation and we can help.
