Early Career Teacher Wellbeing
GLF West Sussex Teacher School Hub’s Commitment to Teacher Well-being
The Early Career Teacher and Appropriate Body Team are committed to protecting and enhancing the mental health and well-being of all our colleagues. We share this commitment with the full team at GLF West Sussex Teaching School Hub, having all been trained in Mental Health First Aid by Mental Health First Aid England and are practising Mental Health First Aiders.
Together, we have a determination to support our own well-being and the well-being of others and this runs through everything we do like 'a stick of rock.' We understand that to be a successful teacher who thrives in the profession, resilience is an essential quality. We also understand that teacher development can be hard at times, especially if life throws unexpected challenges at the same time.
Our ECT and AB Team aim for mental health and well-being to be openly discussed and supported on all our ECT and Mentor programme events - we are an organisation where everyone can feel valued, listened to and supported.
As an ECT programme participant you will have access to:
- Our trained mental health first aiders when needed – they are equipped with a range of bespoke support resources and can signpost relevant high-quality support
- Robust processes in place to signpost if you or others may need support, with a trained DSL Designated Safeguarding Lead and GLF TSH Well-Being Lead.
- For ECTs, our ECT Conference 3 focussing on On-going professional development and Sustained Wellbeing - a conference aimed at signposting strategies to establish a positive work/life balance, routines and habits.
- In school, ECT and Mentors will be able to access support through their Induction Tutor.
Please take a look at our Mental Health First Aid Booklet for details of helpful organisations and helplines, as well as contact details for the team if you would like to speak to someone.
