Facilitates: NPQSEND
After a career in the business world, I re-trained as a teacher and very quickly became interested in the world of SEND. As a mother of 3 sons, one who attends a specialist school, I have always been keen to ensure that I balance my professional and parental lens so that the experiences of the young families and students I work with have everyone's voice heard and to enable them to reach their potential both in school and for life beyond.
I have been a SENDCO since 2015 working in various secondary mainstream schools and am a Specialist assessor and Specialist teacher of literacy. In the last 3 years I have worked on behalf of my MAT to support rhe secondary schools in considering and developing their practice and support available for SEND students. Further to this, I am a parent governor for my sons special school which enables me to have some insight into specialist settings and MAT's.
I am looking forward to working with the NPQ SEND delegates to share experiences and best practice as a cohort.
