West Sussex Teaching School Hub

GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

The University of Brighton has over 110 years’ experience of training teachers.

Our work in initial teacher education provision was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in our 2024 inspection for primary and secondary, and 'good' for early years and further education. The Ofsted reported said "Trainees shine at Brighton’s long-established and highly impressive teacher training".

Brighton is rated 2nd in the UK for education courses in the Guardian University Guide 2025.

Our strength lies with our school-led partnership, one that works to ensure trainee teachers receive the best possible support and education. We work closely with over 600 schools and colleges in the region offering our student teachers a variety of opportunities in large, small, urban and rural settings. Our student teachers benefit from a range of specialist subject classrooms, a curriculum centre with over 30,000 specialist resources and excellent rates of employment.

We were successfully re-accredited by the Department for Education following its ITT review and selected as one of just eight providers in England to deliver the new undergraduate Teacher Degree Apprenticeship pilot.
