West Sussex Teaching School Hub

GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

About Teaching School Hubs

We are delighted to welcome you to the website for the GLF West Sussex Teaching School Hub.

We know that great teachers make great schools and working with you, we will develop a network to collaborate, share ideas and spread excellent practice. We look forward to working together to support schools and trusts to invest in and develop their workforce, creating and retaining the very best teachers, leaders and associate staff to ensure long term positive outcomes for children.

We will work alongside key organisations including: Research Schools, Curriculum Hubs and partnerships, specialist networks such as Whole School SEND, Universities, SCITTs and subject associations to provide a comprehensive professional development offer.

In 2019, the DfE published their Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy, recognising that there are ‘no great schools without great teachers’. This strategy is designed to ensure that a career in teaching is ‘attractive, sustainable and rewarding’ and provides ‘a commitment to transform support for teachers’. We recognise that teachers have the biggest impact on pupil outcomes and life chances and that it is important to support leaders in creating an environment that supports teacher development and to provide opportunities for teachers to collaborate and share best practice.

The 87 teaching school hubs are regional centres for teacher and leadership training and development. The core activities of the teaching school hub include:

  • Delivery of the Early Career Framework (ECF)
  • Delivery of the newly reformed suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)
  • Delivery of Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
  • Providing Appropriate Body (AB) services for Early Career Teachers
  • Other Continuous Professional Development

Working with schools, the Local Authority and other education providers, our ambition is to develop an outstanding educational community.  This will build on existing good practice to support and develop teachers and associate staff to provide high quality learning experiences for all our children.
